Open Ways For New Talents

Let’s Get Started Shkodra club is created on September as an initiative of British Council Albania and the youth of Shkodra that were participants in Let’s Get Started summer school. After organizing the structure of the club, based on their wishes and what they mostly need the teens started to think about the project for their city. After some days of work, it was nominated the best project that consisted in creating an art school for Shkodra talented young people, with the main aim to encourage and promote their talent by their own creativity.

The project started to work seriously and officially on November 17 2005 when Miss Aida Berxholli (Information Manager British Council Albania) visited LGS Shkodra club, whom gave them main support and gave the opportunity to meet the major of municipality of Shkodra that promised them institutional support for every activity organized by British Council. After a tiring work for nominating the most talented young people ,organizing the activity and finding the necessary things, on December,17 2005 ,at 10:00 o’clock it was launched the art school: “OPEN WAYS FOR NEW TALENTS” managed by Arlind Lugji on “Vila Palma” restaurant. There were four sessions: instrumental music, picture, and literature where took part 35 talented people. It was also the fourth session: art management directed by Mr. Arben Papadhopuli a special session for the young people that were participants on Lgs summer school 12 from Lgs Shkodra Club, and 15 where from different countries of Albania. They came to Shkodra to ex-change experiences with Lgs Shkodra Club. Before starting the session it was took a ceremony where took part a lot of personalities, medias, teachers, parents and students. We want especially to thank for their support Shkodra TV, Rozafa TV, Antena Nord TV, some newspapers such as “Shekulli”, “Gazeta Shqiptare”, “Rimekembje”, “Rinia” etc. During eight hours of activity, the environments of the restaurant were transformed in a cult of Shkodra culture. Talented young people, art specialists, professors, pictures, pieces of papers with creative writing, pens, pencils, colors were the spirit of the that atmosphere created that day. As it was mentioned before, the program consisted on directing those young people to promote their talent in creative thinking. Based on their own ideas Lgs Shkodra Club and Aida Berxholli are going to finalize this project on February 14 2006 (Saint Valentine Day) by promoting their talent in a special way.

In the name of Lgs Started Summer school participants that were present on the promotion of Art School “OPEN WAYS FOR NEW TALENTS” I want to thank all the participants of Lgs Shkodra Club for their big work. In addition, for their support, especially our friend Arlind Lugji that made a great work and had great ideas. It is important to think BIG!

Saint Valentine Day

The city of Shkodra was different on February, 14 because the young people of Lgs Shkodra Club found a different way to finalize their project and to celebrate the fest of love. The talented young people that were participants on art school: “Open Ways for New Talents” were the main protagonists of the day. They presented their works and they also prepared T-shirts stamped with their work. A big white banner was the backdrop of the day where the youngsters painted their message, comments and whatever concerned them.

Arlind Lugji the coordinator of Lgs Shkodra club told us something about the project:

The organized activity on February, 14.2006 in “Rozafa” Castle by Let’s get started Shkodra Club and British Council Albania intended to promote the most talented young people of Shkodra city and also to create a celebration atmosphere on Saint Valentines Day. The activity in itself was a creative product that had real and objective impacts. The community of Shkodra, the local media, and the youth of Shkodra evaluated the activity as an original and a concrete initiative to return back the cultural-artistic traditions of Shkodra city. The continuity of such activities is attracting the interest of many local actors that are offering their partnership for the future activities. This shows the new mentality and the fresh atmosphere of Albanian society to cultivate the development and the progress through creative and innovate activities. I encourage all my friends who are member of Let’s get started Shkodra Club for their motivation and their serious contribution during our common work to organize this activity.
I also encourage British Council Albania as a promoter of creating opportunities for young people. Thank you.
