A tree 4 the life
We became aware of the descending number of trees & other green areas and in cooperation with the Municipality of Berat, more exactly with the environmental department in Berat Municipality, and the Red Cross Albania we realized “A tree for the life” project that consists in the sowning of the four trees, two palms & two firs in a public garden, in a quarter of the city to give a strong message of protection and taking care of the environment . The project was realized with the contribute of the citizens because those who contribute are more leaned to protect te nature.
In the activity took part a loot of teens who gave their messages and show different posters containing their viewpoints on environmental problems. They also contributed in trees sowing with the LGS Berati Club Members & the workers of wellkiping the environment. The activity had the attention of the citizens of that quarter and the passers. They appreciated our work and demonstrated their readiness to take care of the trees. The activity was greqatly supported from the local media such as “Onufri TV”, “Berati TV”, “Gazeta Lajmetari”. “Onufri TV” reserved to the activity 10 minutes of the news. The chronicle involve an interview of the coordinators of the LGS Berati Club, Irini Bano; An interview of the project manager in Red Cross: Some interviews of other teenager participants. The chronicle ends with the words : It was one of the 1st initiatives in which the local authorities cooperated with youth groups, NGO-s and the community.

The Green Respect
The members of Let’s Get Started Berati Club has just finished their first project, supported by British Council Albania. With the great desire to be a active youth, and to have a different city, they worked to realize “The green respect” project in their city.
Berati as city with great values has the right to be a member of UNESCO, that’s what we are fighting for.

The project aims were to proactively commit the inhabitants of the city, regardless of their age or background to safeguard the environment, culture inherits and architecture of this 2400 years old city. A number of disposable cameras were distributed to the inhabitants and for some days they had the possibility to take pictures of different aspects of their life and of the city. The members of the club organized an exhibition with these photos bringing closer to the public the existing situation and aiming at raising awareness of the people to conserve these inherits. The project included other educational elements for project management and capacity building of LGS Berat club to get involved in such projects.
