Citizenship Festival

On Thursday,15 March 2007,from 10:00 to 18:00,many creative, talented and open-minded members of Tirana team and other 8 local clubs of other cities (Durres,Fushe-Kruje,Fier,Berat,Permet, Pogradec,Shkoder and Vlore) presented their plan-projects in offices of British Council with their great support.

Durresi Club presented its project called” Generation Contrast”. They wanted to show contrast between generations, to discuss about every single problem that affects teenagers, parents & teachers. It consists in splitting 40 students from many high schools of Durres in 4 groups, train them in Video Editing, give them a week to prepare a short movie on social problems and edit it. After this they will prepare for a debate. Short movies will be shown at the city’s theatre and will be transmitted in local televisions. Project aims were: to increase teamwork level, to evidence this social problems the contrast between different ages through media, to develop the creativity, to integrate young people in the world of the digital media,etc.

Fushe-Kruja Club presented its interesting project. They wanted to have more books on their school library. A new book is a new idea, a new idea is a new window & a new window is a new chance for the future. Project aims were: to enrich the school library, to create a studying room, to show their culture, their traditions to enlarge let’s get started network.

“Don’t smoke-Burn it” was called the project presented by Fieri Club. The importance of this project is to show the negative effects of drugs, because of the lack of information. Target Groups are the teenagers of high schools of Fieri city. The aim was to reduce the number of drug utilizes.

Berati Club was presented with a program about leadership. The aim was to train youngsters, to be good leaders in the future. The objectives were: to train students with a program about leadership, to show the real effect of leaders in the present & in the future and to share ideas & experiences between real leaders of Albania and teenagers of Berati.In activities were included a conference with real leaders and a training with the members of “let’s get started” Berat.

“Permeti, a pearl not discovered yet” was presented by the youth members of Let’s Get Started Permet.The aim consists in organizing many cultural activities, where anyone can find the beauties of this land. The objectives were: to value the culture & traditions of Permeti, to share experiences between the youths of this city and other cities,etc..

In activities were included: a mini-football championship, a program with poetry, songs, etc and finally visits in special places that show some pages of our history.

“Impossible is nothing” say youths of let’s get started Pogradec.

“Nothing about us without us” was motto of the International Day of the Disable People. In its 1 year existence Lgs Club in Pogradec decided to focus it attention on this day, having as a man purpose making these persons feel important and be the part of the society at least for one day.Pogradeci Lgs Club hopes to initiate a tradition and leave to the oncoming member the duty to continue this positive action towards helping these people. The first activity was a concert full of rhymes, songs and puzzles. They had also organized a carnival show and other miscellaneous games. At the end of show presents were distributed to all the children with disabilities and this due to the help of British Council.

The second activity was admiring the fabulous nature of Drilon and in the same time the smile of the children and that of nature. The third activity was planting some seedlings in memory of 3-rd December in “Lasgush Poradeci” public garden. The last activity was the exhibition of the children and the students of “Muharrem Collaku”.

Shkodra Club presented an educational training and awareness program for the cooperation with the local government for the sake of democratic citizenship. The aims were: to increase the cooperation with the local government and the promotion and awareness of the youngster’s community about the citizenship values in a democratic society. Target Group was the youth community, the community in general, the local institutions and youngsters from different cities.

Objectives were: training of the youngsters in the fields were the cooperation with the local government can be ameliorated, helping youngsters to play an active role in a democratic society and to know their rights and obligations and the cooperation with the local government in order to increase the participation of youngsters in the cultural life. Activities included: the organization of a training, a common activity to demonstrate the concept of democratic citizenship and the public display through local media for the progress made by the youth community and local institutions.

Vlora Club was presented with its project. Objectives were: to help children in need and to find talents. Activities included: a talent show, a DVD activity and a lunch for all the participants.

Tirana Team presented the project called “My City”. It is a beautiful thing looking at your city and to becoming aware of all its things. Looking at a tree, a bridge a building, a citizen, a dog or simply staring at the sunrise, it reminds you that you are part of that beautiful creativeness. What we should asked to ourselves is what we can do to improve and to change these dark sides of our city. Trying to show what the youngsters are capable to do through photography, and this is what we are trying to do with the project. So our aim was to see our city from different points of view showing the positive and negative sides of it. Objectives were: To solicit the youngsters to recognize the beauty and the art of photography, to present the city, the citizens, the streets, the buildings and the things that compose it, to know the culture of our city and to know what means being and artist that “steals” the privacy of the city in which he/she lives.
